Bay Trail Middle School Honored as School to Watch

Bay Trail Middle School has been identified as an Essential Elements School to Watch. With this designation, Bay Trail is one of 17 other schools in New York State and just over 200 other schools nationwide that have received this honor. Through an application process, the staff of Bay Trail has demonstrated excellence in academic programming, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and structural organization. Bay Trail is now recognized as a model and mentor for other schools seeking to improve their middle level programs. Bay Trail was recognized at a National Award Ceremony in Washington, DC on June 24^th, 2010.

Bay Trail Middle School

Bay Trail Middle School, located in Penfield, a suburb of Rochester, NY, offers a unique learning experience for students in grades 6-8. With an enrollment of over 1,100 students, Bay Trail is a large school, however, students benefit from a House system within the school which allows for a smaller, more family-oriented environment. Students remain in the same House throughout their middle school years, allowing teachers to get to know them well as they meet weekly to discuss each student's progress. Students also benefit from the school's learner-centered focus which seeks to help all students reach their academic potential through differentiated instruction. In addition to a wide variety of academic programs, Bay Trail offers students numerous opportunities in the arts, athletics and extracurricular activities.

Jazz Fundraiser Concerts Set for Feb. 3 and 4
