Delphi's School-based Prevention Counseling Program is offered to school districts by direct contract. The overall objective of the program is to deter the initiation of drug use and other problem behaviors by increasing children, families, and school communities’ protective factors and assets. Protective factors are shown by research to minimize the negative effects of exposure to risk factors by young people. Delphi currently provides its school-based counseling services to students in grades K-12. Utilizing both the Asset Development and Risk & Protection models, the overall goal of Delphi’s school-based counseling program is to assist students to be successful in school while, deterring risk factors associated with problem behavior. The school based counseling program assists in strengthening protective factors, along with building assets that will improve students’ emotional, behavioral and cognitive skills, that will consequently lead them to a “drug free and healthy ” lifestyle. Delphi is licensed by NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. The staff is highly qualified to address a multitude of issues that schools, children and families are now facing. The program is tailored to meet each of the individual school district concerns based on the districts own needs assessment and survey results from the community. Professional consultation and professional trainings are also available to the school district and community.
