Welcome to Mrs. Statt's 1st Grade Website

Parent Teacher Conferences week of January 23-27

Books Are Brain Food, Read!" will begin on Tuesday, January 10th. This is the school wide reading program that lasts until the beginning of March.  Our first grade classroom goal is for everyone to read 15 minutes five out of the seven days a week. Your child will be bringing a blue or green folder home with directions for the "Books Are Brain Food, Read" and a record sheet.  When your child reads for 15 minutes a night he/she can put a check mark for that date on the record sheet. Of course you can read for more! Every Tuesday your child needs to bring the blue or green folder back to school so we can keep track of how much reading he/she has done.  The folder will be returned on Wednesday.  If your son/daughter forgets to bring their folder on Tuesday have them bring it in the following week.

We have noticed that some of the folders the students use have really gotten ripped. Would you please check with your son/daughter to see if he/she needs a new 3-pronged yellow, orange or a purple folder.  Thank you.

The colder weather is on it's way. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Wear a warm coat, gloves and hats as kids will continue to go out for recess. Students will need boots and snowpants to play on the playground.

Students are now working on the mats in PE. Please do not wear earrings on PE days.

It's hard to believe February is almost here! Check out what will be going on in First Grade in February in the Classroom News section. .

Please bring a healthy snack such as fruit or vegetables each day. Please be aware that we have PEANUT/NUT allergies in our room so please send in a peanut/nut free item for snack. Read labels carefully.
