The District uses the Brigance Early Learning Screening tool for screening of students. The District would provide this tool, materials, and training to the CBO. The District also completes the preponderance of screening of UPK students in the summer prior to the school year.

The District uses the progress monitoring tool called the Brigance Inventory of Early Development III- Standardized for twice yearly progress monitoring of skills.

The District may ask for participation by the teachers at the CBO's to participate in meetings with kindergarten/elementary school staff for the successful transition of UPK students into kindergarten.

The District does not require that UPK teachers are ELL teachers. The District utilizes guidance from the Office of Early Learning regarding emergent multilingual learners. The District encourages the CBO sites to discuss a variety of cultures, traditions and languages in their programs.

1. Section 11.2 states that the program be aligned with all District policies. Can you provide access to those to review so we can know if we are aligned?

2. Section 11.3 asks CBO's to screen new entrants. We use the Ages and Stages tool for this purpose. Is this acceptable to the District?

3. Section 11.5 references assessment indicators. As we use the curriculum and assessments provided by the District, the District sets those standards. Are you changing that practice moving forward?

4. Section 11.8 (11) We are happy to meet with Kindergarten staff as requested. Is this a new practice?

5. Section 11.9 UPK staff support language development in all they do but are not ELL teachers. Is the District requiring more specialized programming? Can you clarify please?

5. Section 11.11 Our centers are secured and parents gain access using an app. While staff greet children at the classroom door, there is no greeter at the front door. Is this a required practice moving forward?

6. Section 11.12 Staff at the CBO are fingerprinted and background checks are completed following OCFS regulations. Will UPK staff also be required to be fingerprinted and cleared through the school District?
