McGee Honored for Excellence in Curriculum Development

Dr. Davné McGee, Assistant Director of Programs at Penfield Central School District, was recently honored by the Genesee Valley Chapter of ASCD (GVASCD), an organization dedicated to advancing best practices in curriculum and instruction.
The annual awards program celebrates the accomplishments of educational leaders who achieve excellence in the areas of Supervision, Curriculum and Service. McGee was given the Curriculum Award.
Before being promoted to Assistant Director of Programs in July 2025, McGee served as a K-12 social worker and Social Emotional Learning Integration Specialist for the District.
“At the center of Davné’s work is an unwavering commitment to building high-quality, coherent systems that support both academic success and student well-being. She has played a pivotal role in strengthening program development across the District, ensuring that initiatives are not only thoughtfully designed, but also effectively implemented and continuously refined,” said Dr. Leslie Maloney, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, during a speech announcing McGee’s award. “Her ability to coordinate complex work—bringing all of the necessary stakeholders together—has elevated the way our District serves students every day. What truly sets Davné apart, however, is how she leads. She is collaborative and solutions-oriented, always listening, always building, always focused on what is best for students.”
McGee’s previous experience also includes working as a clinical social worker for Life Strategies Counseling Services, as well as a social worker for the Greece Central School District and the Rochester Regional Health System.
McGee holds an Ed.D. from Liberty University, a master’s degree in social work from Roberts Wesleyan, and a bachelor's degree in social work from Philander Smith University.
