13 Penfield Athletic Teams Honored for Academic Achievements
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) announced that 238 students from 13 sports teams from Penfield High School were named Scholar-Athletes for the Fall 2025 season.
The Scholar-Athlete program recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of student-athletes across the state. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete team, the average of 75% of the roster must be 90.00 or higher for the marking period. Teams that qualify receive a Scholar-Athlete certificate while individual students earning the distinction receive pins to celebrate their accomplishments.
“The Scholar-Athlete program remains one of the most meaningful recognitions we provide as an Association,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “The dedication shown by these student-athletes, balancing rigorous academic responsibilities with their commitments to interscholastic athletics, is truly remarkable.”
The Scholar-Athlete Program, now in its 33rd year, continues to emphasize the role of academic excellence within education-based athletics.
