During its meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Penfield Central School District Board of Education approved the 2026-2027 school calendar.

Of note this year, the academic year will begin before Labor Day, with the first day of school scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The school year includes five recesses:

• Labor Day Recess: Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7
• Thanksgiving Recess: Wednesday, Nov. 25, Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27
• Holiday Recess: Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Jan. 1, with students and staff returning to school on Monday, Jan. 4, 2027
• February Recess: Monday, Feb. 15 through Friday, Feb. 19
• Spring Recess: Monday, March 22 through Friday, March 26 (Please note: There is no school for K-12 students on Friday, March 19 for a District-wide Conference Day.)

In addition to the recesses, the District will observe several federal holidays including the Fourth of July, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth.

The last day of classes for the 2026-2027 school year for grades 9-12 is Monday, June 14 and for grades K-8 is Wednesday, June 23. Penfield will celebrate the Class of 2027 during a graduation ceremony tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 24.
